Field Worker Service
The society provides a free service with an experienced and qualified Field Worker to support people with multiple sclerosis in the Taranaki region.
Our Field Worker provides information and education to people with MS, their families, cares, friends and employers along with providing support, advice or referrals for issues related to MS.
Meetings can be arranged at your home, work, or any place of your choice, and contact can be made by phone, fax or email.
The Field Worker service is private and confidential. In addition to the professional qualifications and experience, the Field Worker also attends annual training workshops provided by the MS Society of new Zealand.
Some of the areas where assistance is provided to people with MS;
- discussing a diagnosis of MS and what this means for you, your family and for the future
- providing up-to-date knowledge of MS and management of this condition
- counseling and support
- referral to other agencies and health professionals
- supporting partners, carers, families, employers and work colleagues
- facilitating support groups and networks where appropriate
- liaising with other service providers, such as Income Support and home care agencies
